Here is a little replay of a game I played against myself (hard to find opponent here in France)

I wanted to test Dashi Tokainto, a SoV figure to be, who try to give a boost to dust gathering ninjas heroes.

The Dashi Tokainto Army Card

I played on the Remains of Clionesia. There are lots of sight blocker, let's see how Dashi Tokainto manage with it.

Dashi cost 120pts. If we add all existing ninja, it amounts to 500pts ! nice !
    Dashi Tokainto (120pts)

Ninjas of the Northern Wind (110pts)
    Moriko (110pts)
Kumiko (80pts, I don't have her, so Elaria will be used as proxy)
    Shiori (60pts)
    Otonashi (10pts)
    Isamu (10pts)
    = 500pts, 9hex
Against a Jandar's army :
    Sir Gilbert (105pts)

    2x Knights of Weston (2x 70pts)
    2x 4th Mass (2x 70pts)
    1x Templar Cavalery (120pts)
    = 505pts, 23hex
The map, with the two army

Jandar's army :

Let's go !

Round 1

Initiative Jandar

Turn 1, Jandar's army

Thanks to sir Gilbert, 2 knight arrive on the road and 2 4th mass move
Image

Turn 1, Ninja's army

Dashi move forward, along with Moriko and Kumiko
Image

Turn 2, Jandar's army

Sir Gilbert does not move, but prepare the battle : a line of KoW on the front, with 4th mass running to take position behind. a KoW go toward the +2 move glyph
Image

Turn 2, Ninja's army

With the help of the road, Kumiko rush forward to an infortunate 4th mass. Kumiko take height
Image

Turn 3, Jandar's army

Knight gather around Kumiko and give her 2 wounds. Another Kinght get to the +2 move glyph.
Image

Turn 3, Ninja's army

Kumiko keeps moving forward into the ennmies line, using a not effective Ninjutsu barrage, whereas Moriko make a stunning arrival in the melee
Image

Round 2

Initiative Ninjas

Turn 1, Ninja's army

It's Kumiko's turn to be efficient, her Ninjutsu barrage kills 2 4th mass. This time Moriko don't kill anything.
Image

Turn 1, Jandar's army

4th mass retaliate against Kumiko
Image

Turn 2, Ninja's army

Dashi move to be able to activate Shiori (with X marker on her, at all time). Moriko don't achieve to kill anything.
Image

Turn 2, Jandar's army

Knight retaliate against Moriko, putting 2 wounds on her, whereas the 4th mass move forward
Image

Turn 3, Ninja's army

On Dashi bidding, Moriko lets Shiori take care of the Knight and go attack 4th mass, with success ! Shiori make a knight fall.
Image

Turn 3, Jandar's army

Sir Gilbert tried to make the 4th mass move up in the road, but this plan seem to have a grim futur. So he decide to change plan and go to the front ! Knight make Shiori fall on the ground, opening a way for the templar cavalery, that move forward (thanks to sir Gilbert)
Image

Round 3

Initiative Ninjas

Turn 1, Ninja's army

Ninja gains initiative, so Moriko retreat to close the Templar Knight to Dashi. Isamu make a move forward.
Image

Turn 1, Jandar's army

The Templar Cavalery decides to force the way to Dashi, despite Moriko barring it. Two of them reach the Ninja leader, whereas the last one fall to Moriko strike. Alas, this act of bavery is all in vain, as they soon realize that Dashi is quite capable to defend himself.
Image

Turn 2, Ninja's army

Using the stupor caused by the cavalery death, Moriko and Isamu each take a chance to kill a knight
Image

Turn 2, Jandar's army

sir Gilbert leads an all out attacks on Moriko, without succes.
Image

Turn 3, Ninja's army

Isamu and Moriko continue the make knight hit the dust
Image

Turn 3, Jandar's army

Sir Gilbert personally take car of Isamu. The knight on the +2 move glyph let it to come to his comrades' help
Image

Round 4

Initiative Ninjas

Turn 1, Ninja's army

Moriko kill the penultimate knight. Otonashi rush forward
Image

Turn 1, Jandar's army

With the help of the last knight, sir Gilbert put another wound on Moriko and make the last 4th mass move forward.
Image

Turn 2, Ninja's army

Otonashi arrive on the front and do something she don't have the habit to : she actually kill the last knight ! Moriko take care of the penultimate 4th mass.
Image

Turn 2, Jandar's army

Order marker 2 was on knigth, Jandar's army pass its turn.

Turn 3, Ninja's army

Otonashi fails to wound sir Gilbert, whereas Moriko kill the last 4th Mass.
It is now between sir Gilbert and the ninjas !
Image

Turn 3, Jandar's army

Order marker 3 was on knigth, Jandar's army pass its turn once more

Round 5

Initiative Ninjas

Turn 1, Ninja's army

Dashi make the assassination specialists move forward.
Image

Turn 1, Jandar's army

sir Gilbert see the threat and decide he should try to diminish it a little. He leave engagment (and take a wound) and strike to a black ninja, only to see the Ninja reappear near.
Image

Turn 2, Ninja's army

Ninjas of the northern wind gather around sir Gilbert and slaughter him (sir Gilbert take 7 wounds in a turn !!) just under the sigth of Dashi, that remains calm.

End of the game, Victory of the Ninja's clan !

Analysis

As all of you I think, when I began this game, I was sure they would be crushed by the Jandar's army. I wanted to see how much they can do before dying. Well, I saw...
Sure, Ninja had good luck with defense dice, but not a very good luck for attacks one (lot and lot of 1 skull on 3 dice rolls)

I don't think Dashi is too strong. This map is really good for him, and bad for sir Gilbert. Moreover, I was lacking experience at how to use sir Gilbert at his best. Would I be to play that game once again, I would probably play the Jandar's army much better !

Here is an analysis of various points concerning this game :

Ninjas :

- Dashi is a blast to play. With a move of 6 and ghost walk, it is nearly impossible to prevent him from using his power over others ninjas (well without using the like of gladiatron, of course). He move before activating others ninja, allowing him to surprise your opponent, because depending where you move, you could activate very differents Ninjas. On the other hands, it is a little frustrating to never attack with him. He just stay out of engagement, like a shadow drifting over the battlefield. He has only 4 life, but his move and ghost walk help greatly to gain height advantage, and with his defense of 5 and counterstrike, he can be really hard to attack him. During this game, I was counting on the 4th mass to shot him down, but they never came near enough to try. I then tried with Templar cavalery, with awfull results (admittely, he got a little lucky on his defense dice).
On a map without too much line blocker, Dashi can be a really good glyph holder, or can easilly go grab lot of tresure glyph for the end game. If the opposing army is mainly melee, he can also hinder the movement of the opponent, without fear of being tied by engagement.
There are 3 quite strong ninja, Moriko, Kumiko and Shiori (with X on her) + Isamu if you play against Jandar's figures. So before you run out of good activation option, the opponent has to kill at least 2 of them, that is to say 7 to 8 wounds on defense 4 or 5 figures. You will have so time to use Dashi's power before it becomes subpar.
It is a very strategic figure, very fun to play

- Ninjas are really fast, with their move of 6 and their ghost walk. They are specialist for taking height, or infiltrate ennemy line to attack softer but juicer targets. On this map, they have the huge advantage to be nearly all able to get on the road at the first activation ! Then they have a move of 9 with ghost walk : unstopable !

- Moriko has a good defense of 4 and a semi good 4 life. But do not forget ghost walk, as it enable her to dive in the ennemy's line, using opponent figure as a shield (moving adjacent to figures without order marker on make them engaged and prevent opponent's figure to pass through them, and it also limit the number of available space from where Moriko can be attacked). She also have good choices : a normal attack of 4 (5 with height) or an adaptable multiple attack SA. Combined with Kumiko and Dashi, they can make a rain of SA fall on opponent figures.

- Kumiko is also quite good. Only 3 lifes, but 5 defense. Her normal attack is a little weak (3), but her SA can be really good and oblige the opponent to take it into account when moving near her.

- Shiori is the one that get the most from Dashi. With him, you can let the X marker on Shiori, giving her her bonus all the time ! She become a 6/1/4/4 hero with 3 lifes, a ranged SA and a bonding for 60points ! quite better ! She is the only one with a ranged attack on the team, and her corrects stats allow her to take after on of her big sister when this sister fall.

- Isamu can at least not be reserved only for the end game ! As soon as 2 of the previous ninjas are dead, he become the best second choice for the Dashi's power. If you are against Jandar's figures, he can even be more interesting thant Shiori

- Otonashi is, well ... still Otonashi. Her only use is when you have only her and another ninja on the front line and don't want to let your front line ninja alone by activating the ninjas of the northern wind.

- Ninjas of the northern wind : strong as usual, I like to use them as clean-up. Dashi give the the flexibility to be activated whenever you want, but appart when your opponent kill your 2 front Ninja on the same turn, you usually don't want to let a Ninja alone there. There is a pattern with Dashi, where if you begin to use him with the heroes ninjas, you'll continue till the end of them and only then use ninjas of the northern wind. If you begin by using the ninja squad, you'll use then to the last one and then use the ninjas heroes. The best way seems to be to use them as clean-up, because if you begin with them, you will probably continue play them until they are dead. If one die, you lose attack per order marker, at a time in the game when it is very important.

Jandar's army

4th mass are often spoken of with so much praise that I was drawed to the flaw of wanting to use them at all cost and it was a mistake. Sir Gilbert was not able to use Jandar's dispatch and help on the front at the same time because of line of sight blocker, and I made the mistake to use Jandar's instead of helping the Knight to make the 4th mass advance in good position. Not only it was a poor decision, moreover the Ninja just passed through the knight to storm the 4th mass. If I was to play this game again, I would definitly play it better for Jandar's side.
Whatever, I was really surprised by the punch Dashi give to the ninja. Yes, I played Jandar's army poorly, but the ninja beat them soundly. Even if I achieved to kill more ninja, I would have a hard time bringing Dashi himself down with only knight !

The map

This map favor figure with 6 move. They are really a few spots that allow 5 move figure to go on the road at the first activation, but quite more for 6 moves figures. the map is bad for power that need line of sight, even if for Dashi, being able to disengage safely and to move before the use of the power, it is not too hard. Stil, Dashi was unable to collect any tresure glyph because of this. Sir Gilbert had a more hard time !

Lyrgard a écrit:

Ulginesh
Jordawhn
Emiroon
Arkmer
Kyntela
